How tutors bill
Tutors bill per lesson/hour, as a lesson package, or a monthly plan. Packages paid in advance are popular and improve attendance and cash flow.
What to put on a tutor invoice
- The lesson dates or number of sessions covered, so parents can match it to their calendar.
- Whether it's pay-as-you-go or a prepaid package, and any package discount applied.
- Your cancellation policy (e.g. 24 hours' notice) referenced on the invoice.
- The essentials every invoice needs: your details, the client's, a unique number, issue and due dates, an itemised list, the total, and how to pay.
Sample tutor invoice
A typical tutor invoice might look like this:
- Maths tutoring (per lesson) — $40 × 4
- Exam prep pack (6 sessions) — $300
